My client is an expanding engineering company.

Purpose of position: The Financial Controller will be responsible for all aspects of financial management & office administration. Working alongside the Board and Directors you will be joining the business at a key time of growth.

Man duties:

Financial Reporting
• Provide agreed daily, weekly and monthly management information reports, in a consistent and timely format, to help the management team make the right economic decisions
• Prepare monthly cash flow statements, project margin analysis and capex reports
• Manage working capital effectively in conjunction with the management team

Product Costing
• Develop detailed BOM’s for all the major projects
• Analyse variances by labour and material by project, weekly
• Help management team to understand and reduce negative variances
• Show how effective scheduling impacts production output, labour utilisation and customer lead times
• Identify the most effective product mix to maximise margins while satisfying customer demand and market positioning

Working Capital Management
• Prepare weekly Aged Debtors and Creditors report
• Convert the above information into detailed cash collection targets and payment schedules
• Work with the management team to ensure appropriate trading terms are negotiated effectively with customers from the outset, including credit limits, payment terms and retention levels
• Ensure all overdue accounts are pursued appropriately
• Ensure working capital management becomes a core competence in the business

HR/IT/Insurances/Risks
• Help develop the culture of the organization to ensure all employees are treated with respect and the business complies with all statutory requirements
• Ensure all personnel have formal employment contracts, are issued with an Employee Handbook, receive proper induction training and all complaints/grievances are properly handled
• Review all accounting and IT software in terms of fit with business requirements and action appropriately
• Ensure all insurances are in place and claims handled both timely and accurately
• Prepare and update a risk register to monitor and manage the key risks in the business

Requirements:
Qualified accountant with a minimum of 5 years' pqe
Strong background in financial reporting
Previous costing experience
Commercial outlook

Salary: €75k plus benefits.
