The Panel was delighted to attend the official launch of Calcutta Run 2019 last week, kindly hosted by Walkers Global.
The event will take place on Saturday 18th May. As long term sponsors of this legal charitable fundraising event it is inspiring to see how an entire profession is coming together in an effort to aid homelessness, in both Ireland and Calcutta.
The Calcutta Run is now in it’s 21st year and offers numerous options for firms to get together and fundraise. This year interested parties have the option to run or walk (5km/10km) and cycle (50km/100km), but there are also many additional events available.
The Calcutta Run supports the following two charities: The Hope Foundation and The Peter McVerry Trust. Two hugely deserving recipients.
At the launch attendees got to hear from Garry Ferguson (Managing Partner, Walkers), Patrick Dorgan (President of Law Society of Ireland, Partner at Ronan Daly Jermyn), Orla Kerbey (Head of Fundraising & Marketing at Peter McVerry Trust), Maureen Forrest (Director, The HOPE Foundation), MC Gavin Duffy, and Cillian Mac Domhaill (Director, Finance & Administration at Law Society of Ireland). This was followed by an interactive panel discussion.
“There’s a desire from the legal profession to participate in social corporate responsibility initiatives like this”
[Ken Murphy, Director General, Law Society of Ireland]
Many thanks to Walkers on hosting a great event and to Hilary Kavanagh for all her organisational efforts behind the scenes.
