Our client, a leading global fund administration firm, is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Vice President (SVP) of Derivatives Operations to lead and scale their derivatives function. This senior leadership role is pivotal in overseeing all aspects of derivatives processing and control across a wide range of fund structures, ensuring best-in-class operational delivery, risk management, and client satisfaction.
As SVP, you will drive innovation, strengthen control frameworks, and lead a high-performing team responsible for trade lifecycle management across OTC, cleared, and exchange-traded derivatives. This role requires deep technical knowledge, proven leadership capabilities, and the ability to build and manage strong relationships with clients, counterparties, and internal stakeholders.
The role
As SVP, you will drive innovation, strengthen control frameworks, and lead a high-performing team responsible for trade lifecycle management across OTC, cleared, and exchange-traded derivatives. This role requires deep technical knowledge, proven leadership capabilities, and the ability to build and manage strong relationships with clients, counterparties, and internal stakeholders.
The role
- Provide strategic oversight of the end-to-end derivatives operations function, including trade capture, confirmation, margining, settlements, reconciliations, valuations, and lifecycle event processing.
- Lead and mentor a global team responsible for supporting complex derivatives portfolios across mutual funds, hedge funds, and institutional mandates.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of OTC and exchange-traded derivatives in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Partner closely with clients, custodians, counterparties, fund accountants, and risk teams to resolve issues, enhance service delivery, and support new product initiatives.
- Champion operational efficiency by driving process improvements, automation, and system enhancements across derivatives workflows.
- Maintain and enhance a robust control environment, ensuring all key risk indicators, break management, and reconciliation processes are monitored and escalated appropriately.
- Act as the senior point of contact for client escalations and governance discussions relating to derivatives servicing.
- Collaborate with product, technology, compliance, and project teams to support regulatory change initiatives
The candidate
- 15+ years of experience in financial services, with at least 7 years in a leadership role focused on derivatives operations within asset management, fund administration, or investment banking.
- Deep understanding of OTC, cleared, and listed derivatives products, including interest rate swaps, credit/default swaps, equity options, futures, and FX derivatives.
- Proven ability to lead large global teams, implement control frameworks, and manage operational risk effectively.
- Demonstrated success in managing client relationships, leading transformation initiatives, and delivering process improvement in a complex operational environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or professional qualification (e.g. CFA, FRM, MBA) is a plus.
