The Senior Compliance Manager is a pivotal role, ensuring the organization remains at the forefront of international sanctions and financial crime compliance while fostering innovative solutions in a dynamic, supportive environment.
Legal Expertise Preferred
While this is a Senior Compliance Manager position, our client has a strong preference for candidates with a legal background (e.g., qualified Solicitor or Common Law Attorney). The ideal candidate will possess a sophisticated understanding of the legal nuances within global trade sanctions and financial crime, blending a rigorous legal lens with practical, operational compliance management.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership: Lead and evolve the global Trade Sanctions Compliance Programme, ensuring all policies, procedures, and internal controls are robust and reflective of current regulatory expectations.
Advisory & Risk Assessment: Conduct and oversee comprehensive sanctions risk assessments; provide high-level legal and regulatory guidance on shifting sanctions regimes.
Financial Crime Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the primary expert on Anti-
Money Laundering (AML) and broader financial crime issues, supporting local teams in implementing global best practices.
Strategic Training: Develop and deliver bespoke, high-level training modules on sanctions compliance tailored to diverse business functions and executive leadership.
Governance & Reporting: Represent the Financial Crime function within global governance forums and risk committees; prepare critical reporting for senior management and the Board of Directors.
Requirements & Qualifications
Legal Background (Strongly Preferred): A legal qualification (Solicitor, Common Law Attorney, or JD) is highly desirable to navigate the complexities of international law and regulatory frameworks.
Sanctions Expertise: experience in Trade Sanctions compliance within the financial services sector.
Regulatory Depth: Deep understanding of international sanctions regimes
Operational Excellence: Proven track record in managing compliance programs, conducting enterprise-wide risk assessments, and optimizing sanctions screening technology.
Project Leadership: Strong project management skills with the ability to operationalise complex regulatory changes across a multinational organisation.
