Head of Legal, North Munster
Our client has a strong global footprint in the manufacturing sector and a growing group structure across multiple markets.
They are now seeking to hire their first Head of Legal to act as a trusted, commercially focused adviser to the business as it continues to scale.
Key points:
• Minimum 8 years PQE+
• Regular interaction with the CEO, Board and senior leadership team
• Broad, standalone mandate spanning commercial, governance, compliance, regulatory, product/technology
• You must have the appetite to set up and take ownership of the legal function
• Candidates must have experience of corporate M&A transactions
Please note: The location will suit individuals living in Limerick, Galway, Clare, Tipperary. 5 days onsite preferable (some flex).
The Role
This is a broad-based in-house mandate for a commercially minded lawyer who wants ownership across the full spread of legal work. You will act as the primary legal point of contact for the group, working closely with Finance, Operations, R&D, Sales, Procurement, HR, Quality and Sustainability, while managing external counsel on more specialist or contentious matters. The role suits someone equally comfortable drafting a complex international supply agreement and advising the Board on governance and risk.
Responsibilities
• Provide clear, pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice to management and business teams
• Draft, review and negotiate customer, supplier, distribution, service, NDA, software, technology, insurance and standard terms documentation
• Advise on international sales and supply arrangements, including risk allocation, liability, indemnities, warranties, jurisdiction and governing law
• Support legal matters arising from product development, connected technologies, software-enabled products, IP and product compliance
• Manage litigation, disputes and claims with external counsel, including product, IP and contractual matters
• Support corporate governance, board processes, statutory filings, company secretarial matters and internal approvals
• Assist with M&A, investment, entity structuring, reorganisations and strategic projects, including due diligence and transaction documentation
(a detailed JD is available to suitable candidates)
Requirements
• Qualified solicitor in Ireland, England and Wales, or another relevant common law jurisdiction
• Minimum 8 years PQE, gained in a law firm or in-house team
• Strong commercial contracts, corporate law, governance, compliance and risk management experience
• Experience with international operations, subsidiaries, cross-border contracts, group structures or M&A advantageous
• Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to translate legal requirements into practical business guidance for senior stakeholders
