Financial Controller
Our client, a well-established Dublin hotel, is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to join its senior management team. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for all financial operations across the business, ensuring strong financial controls, accurate reporting, statutory compliance, and strategic financial oversight.
Working closely with the General Manager, Directors, and Accounts Team, you will provide timely financial information, drive business performance improvements, and identify opportunities to enhance profitability and efficiency. Previously managed through head office, the role now brings full oversight of the accounts process in-house, and will play a central part in supporting the hotel's continued growth and operational success.

Main duties
- Prepare accurate monthly management accounts for the General Manager and Directors.
- Produce monthly financial reports, including KPI analysis and detailed cost reporting.
- Analyse financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability.
- Deliver meaningful financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead the annual budgeting process.
- Prepare and maintain rolling forecasts throughout the year.
- Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying variances and recommending corrective action.
- Oversee all internal cash and credit card reconciliations.
- Complete regular bank reconciliations.
- Ensure effective cash flow management and maintain robust financial controls.
- Oversee the Accounts Department to ensure timely collection of outstanding debtor balances.
- Monitor creditor accounts and ensure suppliers are paid accurately and on time.
- Maintain efficient processes to support the smooth running of the business.
- Work with the management team to monitor payroll expenditure and labour costs.
- Support departmental managers in controlling operating costs while maintaining high service standards.
- Ensure all VAT, PAYE, and PRSI returns are completed accurately and submitted within statutory deadlines.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors during year-end audits and compliance processes.
- Use modern accounting systems and reporting tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Embrace AI solutions to improve reporting, forecasting, financial analysis, and administrative processes.
- Identify opportunities to automate financial procedures and strengthen business intelligence.
The person
- Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent), or substantial relevant experience.
- Minimum three years' experience in a finance or accounting management role.
- Strong management accounting and financial reporting expertise.
- Experience preparing management accounts in a multi-department business environment.
- Previous experience within the hospitality or hotel sector (and with hospitality property management systems and accounting software) is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication, presentation, organisational, and time-management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- A solutions-focused approach, able to influence business decisions through financial insight and analysis.
- Able to work independently while contributing effectively as part of the senior management team.
