Payments Solution Architect – Faster Payments Transformation | Contract | Ireland (Hybrid)
We're partnering with a leading Irish retail bank on a major Faster Payments UK transformation programme, and we're looking for a Payments Solution Architect to help lead it.
This is a hands-on architecture role at the centre of a real-time payments overhaul — spanning a Semantic Payments Hub, an IPF-style Payments Engine, and integration across banking, compliance, fraud, and finance systems. You'll define the target-state architecture, lead design governance, and work closely with engineering, risk, and regulatory stakeholders to bring it to life.
What you'll be doing:
- Owning end-to-end solution architecture for the Faster Payments programme
- Designing payment orchestration, message transformation, and ISO 20022 messaging within a Semantic Hub
- Architecting compliance, fraud, and funds-verification controls across the payment journey
- Defining event-driven, microservices-based integration patterns (Kafka or equivalent)
- Leading architecture governance and design authority reviews
What we're looking for:
- 10+ years in solution architecture, with 5+ years on large-scale payments transformation
- Strong knowledge of UK Faster Payments, ISO 20022, and real-time payments ecosystems
- Experience with payment hubs/engines and integrating them with core banking platforms
- Comfortable across Kafka, Kubernetes, OpenShift/Docker, and Azure
- Experience in a regulated financial services environment (Central Bank of Ireland / FCA / PCI DSS)
