The Interim Head of Finance will lead the finance function of a Dublin-based financial services firm, ensuring robust financial control, high-quality management information and financial reporting and ownership of the yearly planning cycle. The role will take ownership of management accounting, VAT compliance, and Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) regulatory reporting, while providing strategic financial oversight and leadership during the interim period.
The successful candidate will bring strong financial services experience, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels.
The role:
- Lead the finance function, ensuring strong financial control, governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee monthly management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and board reporting.
- Ensure accurate and timely VAT compliance, including partial exemption where applicable.
- Take ownership of all Central Bank of Ireland regulatory reporting and capital monitoring.
- Maintain robust internal controls and oversee external audit processes
- Partner with senior leadership to provide commercial insight and financial oversight.
- Utilise the accounting system and drive automation and efficiencies in the accounting process
The Candidate:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 8+ years’ post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience operating at Head of Finance / Financial Controller level within a regulated financial services environment in Ireland.
- Strong working knowledge of Central Bank of Ireland regulatory reporting requirements and capital monitoring frameworks.
- Solid expertise in management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and board-level reporting.
- Demonstrable experience managing VAT in financial services, including partial exemption methodology.
- Experience leading and developing finance teams, with a hands-on and pragmatic leadership style.
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced or change environments, with the ability to stabilise and improve finance processes quickly.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage at Board and regulator level.
