Purpose of the role
Reporting to the AML Manager, the Associate, AML will be an integral part of the team's success, playing a key role in delivering outsourced Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) services.
You will be responsible for conducting complex AML reviews, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, maintaining AML systems and supporting the development of junior associates. The role calls for strong regulatory knowledge, independent judgment and close collaboration with AML leadership to ensure high-quality client reviews.
What you'll do
- Independently liaise, in a timely and professional manner, with the AML Manager and various business stakeholders to complete the client review process.
- Carry out AML reviews, financial sanction screenings and independent research on clients globally.
- Perform anti-money laundering checks in line with AML policies and procedures.
- Prepare the “AML” pack for sign-off by AML leadership.
- Review, understand and confidently discuss anti-money laundering regulations with colleagues.
- Monitor and update the task tracking schedule to ensure all assigned duties are completed within deadlines.
- Maintain checklists and procedures in relation to the AML process.
- Maintain and update the AML client lifecycle management (Fenergo) system.
- Keep up-to-date knowledge of AML regulation and best practice, and use it to promote enhancements to the firm's AML processes and procedures.
- Assist colleagues when capacity permits and notify the AML Manager of availability.
- Follow current company policies and procedures as set out in the Employee Handbook.
- Mentor and guide junior associates, fostering a culture of compliance and professional development.
What you bring to the table
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Law or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
- 2–3 years' experience in AML, compliance or a related field.
- In-depth understanding of AML/CTF regulations, risk management and financial crime.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in AML software tools and MS Office.
- CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or a similar certification is highly preferred.
